Every year, the H-Team is proud to organize the Turkey Challenge.
The goal of the Turkey Challenge is to donate as much non-perishable items and turkey as we possibly can to our community in need. We prepare by putting a truck in each of our showrooms: Toyota and Ford. Then our entire community—all of our roughly 250 employees, plus any members of the larger community—is invited to add to the collection of canned goods piled up in the back of the truck. We collect cereal, peanut butter, soup, specific food items for the holiday, like stuffing and cranberry sauce and other pantry necessities until its time to pack it all up for transport! We drive it over to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, unload it, and weigh it on the giant scales. For the past two years, we have donated a total of over 4,000 pounds of food to the greater Burlington community. Once we know the weight of the canned goods, we head to the grocery store to match the weight in turkey! Last year, we matched 1,000 pounds of canned goods with 1,000 pounds of turkey we purchased! It takes a big team to come together to donate, pack, drive, haul, unload, weigh and repeat, but we are so fortunate to work with some of the best and most-community minded individuals in the area. We believe it's our responsibility to care for the community that has supported us for the past twenty-five years. That's why we love being a part of the H-Team, and working to make our part of Vermont a better place to work and live!
